  • who i am.

I'm Jeff Short, the founder of reclaim|creative, a Kansas City-based wedding videography company.

I chose the name reclaim|creative because I believe in taking back what is artistic and creative about wedding cinematography. You won't find cheesy videos here -- just real, emotional films.

I've spent the last several years photographing weddings with my wife (www.ericamay.com). Through those experiences, I saw a need for compelling film-making to help couples preserve their wedding days (and give them something people will actually want to watch).

Brady & Brianna’s Kansas City Wedding

Brady & Brianna were an ericamay photography couple, so I was fortunate enough to be able to shoot side-by-side with my beautiful wife! I had so much fun filming Brady & Brianna’s wedding day at the beautiful Hawthorne House in Parkville, MO while being able to see Erica’s photography skills in action!

Even though the wedding day was a little gloomy outside, Brady & Brianna’s excitement was enough to completely fill everyone involved with joy. Brianna & Brady’s wedding and reception had so many personal touches and everyone in attendance had so much fun, despite the fact that most of the guests were K-State fans and had to miss a huge men’s basketball game that began right before the ceremony started!

Brady & Brianna, thank you for inviting me to be a part of your wedding day.

Enjoy!

Nick & Tracy’s Kansas City Wedding

Nick & Tracy are one of those couples that you know were 100% meant for each other — without a question. Spending time with them during their March wedding day was such a fun and inspiring experience. Their love for each other (and their whole-hearted thankfulness for that love) just beamed from both of them all day, and I was so happy to be there to witness them exchange some of the most meaningful, heartfelt, and binding vows that I’ve ever heard.

The video features their wedding-day preparations, a fun shoot with The Parsons Photographers in the Crossroads Art District near downtown KC, the beautiful ceremony, and their awesome reception at the Kansas City Arts Incubator event space.

Nick & Tracy, thank you so much for allowing me to experience and document your amazing wedding day!

Kansas City Videographer: Aimee and Jeff in the West Bottoms

A couple things I learned about Aimee & Jeff during their after-the-wedding, just-for-fun photo/modeling shoot in the West Bottoms area of Kansas City:
1) They are troopers — not everybody is willing to do a random/just-for-fun photo shoot in the snow!
2) They were so. much. fun.

Aimee and Jeff are one of those couples that you can tell laugh a lot with (and at) each other, and they were such a joy to be around. Erica gathered a group of amazing photographers (including Jon & Emily Beaty of Fort Smith, AR, Lindsey Filby of Element Creative Studio, and Rebecca Witte) to have fun photographing Aimee & Jeff on a chilly, snowy February afternoon.

Aimee & Jeff’s love for each other couldn’t be more evident in their video (below)!

ColleenQuinnNosbish - that is amazing!!!!! can i share this on my website?

ericamay - i love how you captured this shoot! it’s so awesome to see emotion and excitement, even for an “after the wedding” shoot. i love the falling snow the most!! :)

Engagement Video: Dallas and Megan

Dallas and Megan are awesome ericamay photography clients and I recently had the privilege of joining them for their engagement photo shoot in the River Market area of Kansas City.

Dallas is the brother of a long-time friend of Erica and I (who just happened to be one of my groomsmen), and he has found himself an amazing future bride in Megan. They were kind enough to let me follow them around for the morning as well as sitting down with me for a few minutes in order to tell their story. They have a wonderful (and hilarious) story, and I have no doubt that their marriage will be a life of love, service and laughter.

Enjoy!

Destination Wedding Videography: Kendra and Fernando in Yelapa, Mexico

Erica and I were SO excited when Kendra & Fernando asked us to document their Yelapa, Mexico destination wedding. We both had a great time photographing the amazing details of the wedding and the beautiful village of Yelapa. Luckily for me, Kendra was kind enough to allow me to also take video of the festivities, and I couldn’t have asked for a more unique opportunity to get some great footage!

As you’ll see below, their wedding day was more than just one ceremony and one reception… amazingly enough, there were TWO ceremonies (one in a Mexican Catholic church [in Spanish], and another, more laid back beach-side ceremony in English), in addition to a two-part reception/party for that will most likely go down in Yelapa’s history books! The preparations and festivities of the day spanned more than 15 hours, and Erica and I couldn’t have had more fun being there to partake in all of their wedding-day awesomeness!

I hope you enjoy the highlight film of Kendra & Fernando’s Yelapa, Mexico destination wedding!
